Sparkle Kitty formed in 2013 where members came from a diverse range of musical backgrounds to create a dynamic new act producing an ethereal electronic sound.
With a diverse range of influences from jazz through to country, they have created an eclectic live set that has seen them win over fans and take out the 2014 RDU Roundup band competition.
The band self produced their first single ‘Finch’ with the help of friend Lukas Thielmann and now are proud to announce the launch of two new tracks as part of their RDU Roundup grand prize.
Recorded and mixed at The Sitting Room studios in Lyttelton with engineer Ben Edwards before getting mastering treatment from Gabriel Calcott of Reality Chant Productions, both tracks ‘Venom’ and Knuckles’ are sure to be a huge success in the alternative music scene nationwide.
As part of the grand prize the band are getting a limited run of exclusive 10" vinyl, featuring Knuckles and Venom, made by In Real Life Vinyl Mastering to send out to appropriate industry figures to aid their ventures into the music scene. The band also picked up a swathe of other prizes including a photo shoot with Dean McKenzie Photography, mentoring from CHART and theaudience.co.nz, $1500 from the Rockshop and a promotional package from the Press.
Their engaging front woman Lucy Macilquham is joined by Anna Provan on keys, Chris Wethey on bass, Harry Knight on guitar and Simon Brouwer (ex The Unfaithful Ways) on drums.
