Shaun McTague (Vocals//Guitar), Cameron Hoy (Guitar), Edward Kwon (Bass), and Richard Kwon (Drums) have been jamming together under various guises since meeting at Shirley Boys High School in 2008, before becoming Villain in 2010 after discovering a mutual love for postpunk and alternative rock music.

The quartet play regularly around Christchurch and have recently released a single, titled 'PostHuman', in support for their debut self titled album.

The album was recorded and mixed by Matthew Gunn, and was released on the 3rd of October 2014 accompanied by a triumphant release show at the bands favourite venue, the darkroom.

Villain's sound is characterized by scrangly, effects-laden, and atmospheric guitars, a deep and driving rhythm section, and anthemic vocal lines, characterized by McTague's baritone voice.

Villain draw their inspiration from an eclectic range of influences, including but not limited to; classic postpunk, postpunk revival, shoe gaze, noise rock, newwave, darkwave, hiphop, electronica and doom metal.

Villain's debut selftitled album is now available as a payasyou like digital download from their bandcamp page, with more physical copies to be available soon. The band plans to continue to evolve their sound to take their energetic and dynamic live show on a nation wide tour during the summer of 2015.
